Something Out There

This is my Halloween post. On a recent leaf-peeping drive I put my camera out the car window and took a shot of what was a lovely explosion of colors in the valley below. I was not even looking at the direction of my camera. It turned out this way. I kinda like it. I call it my picture of the very elusive wind. My husband calls it my picture of the supernatural. Well if it is the latter, then it fits the halloween category, right.

(I had to stop for a bit, we just had one of those earthquakes we are so famous for. Nothing significant, nevertheless, still alarming. Happy Halloween everyone.)

More Local Colors

Beautiful colors from nearby hillside. Notice the dry brush underneath. This was taken 10/13/07 and I just realized the kindling underneath the trees. Luckily, we had rain the very next week. I went back to look yesterday and these grasses have turned green again, thankfully.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in the southland. We had our big wildfire here in the northern part (the tahoe fire in june, i believe). More rain for the state.

The Colors of the Season

The Alaska series will continue. But I'm afraid the season will be over and I have not had any fall color posting. Here's what little color we have in my neck of the 'burbs. Taken last weekend.

Well, back to Alaska posting again. Check out the name on the pole. Yes, this is in Manila Square in Juneau in front of the Red Dog Saloon, which been recognized by the Alaska Legislature for its longevity as the oldest man-made tourist attraction in Juneau.

Stanley Park is to Vancouver as Golden Gate Park is to San Francisco (or Central Park is to NYC). And Lions Gate is Vancouver's reply to the City-by-the-Bay's Golden Gate. I will post picutres of Stanley Park later on.

I do not know why I photographed this. I guess I was thinking of having a sign series, but turned out it became part of my "arrow" series.

Taken on a very sunny summer day in this side of the Bay, but as you can see it's quite foggy at the other side.

Floating Gas Station

Look what I found a way off Vancouver harbour, a floating gas station. I saw some small hydroplanes which I guessed came from Alaska stopping near the station. Surely, there is a need for this here.
