Photo Hunt #16: Ruin(ed)

ruined_Page000, originally uploaded by airam94564.

I saw this plant/flowers in a local nursery. RUINED I thought they were by some genetic aberration, after all all these flowers are from the same plant.

Have you seen this plant? Know this flower? Is this an aberration? Or do they really grow like this with mixed blooms. It remains a mystery to me.

Beautiful shots but I can't answer your question. Good take on the theme.

Hmm... some generic problems I guessed but no matter how handicapped those flowers are, they are still beautiful :)

I like your ruined mystery! Great macros too.

Sometimes plants and flowers grow in this special way; it is called "cristate". You often fiend cactus as cristate. "Digitalis" in my garden is flowering this way every year.
There is something written in the german "wikipedia" about this anomaly.

That's a sunflower right? Love the vivid sunny color! I haven't see any sunflower with that sort of "defect" though.

Happy hunting!

I don't know what they are - maybe a genetic mix of two somethings? Great shots, though.

Pretty sunflower...Good choice for the theme...Happy weekend.

Very strange "ruin" indeed. I doubt it is intentional. It's as if it suffered some trauma while the flowers were developing. Have a good weekend.

That's interesting. I also wonder how they came out that way.
