One Rainy Day In Napa (Our World Tuesday #3)
One rainy Sunday afternoon in March we found ourselves driving to Napa to check out the newly renovated downtown/waterfront area. Another reason was to check out Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto's restaurant. It's now October and I still haven't saved enough to money to eat at Morimoto - well that's another story.
We found parking quickly. The area is almost abandoned. I guess people didn't like going out on a cold, rainy Sunday afternoon.
I immediately spotted Morimoto.
Up close.
Suprise, surprise. Another celebrity chef has taken residence in the Napa downtown/waterfront area. I am waiting for the restaurant, this one's a kitchen supply store.
Wine bottle chandelier. So very Napa.
The water level at Napa River was very low in March.
We walked along the road and stumbled on one of the other restaurants I've been meaning to visit. It was close that day.
We walked some more, entered a Kohl's (dept store) when the rain got heavy, made a few purchases, then went our merry way back home.
Before we went home we stopped by to photograph this Napa Valley landmark - a statue of a man with a giant grape crusher.
A late post I know.

i so love the idea of going out on a cold and rainy afternoon. best to go soup hunting during these times right? love, love the photo of the wine chandelier. but somehow i can imagine lots of things that can go wrong with it. lol. i wish you can eat at morimoto and share the story soon!
ReplyDeletethese are beautiful! the buildings are impressive. i was in Napa twice but never had the chance to walk around. thanks for the tour. i love the sculpture.
ReplyDeleteAs usual lovely photos. I smiled at the comment above re "soup hunting during rainy days". I remember those people here affected by floods who don't even have hot noodles for their kids, and lots of them still in evacuation areas! BTW, i always see your comments also in my friends' blogs from here.
ReplyDeletethat wine bottle chandelier, i can do it at home for a change :P
ReplyDeleteNothing like Napa Valley, Maria, but I don't know a thing about all the restaurants you've shown here. Happy eating one day! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the wine bottle chandelier! :) and the place with all those neat and stylish buildings looks like a cool place for a morning stroll or even for biking.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us along on your rainy day walk. I've heard much about Napa, but I don't recall ever seeing pictures of the town. It looks like a neat place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this sequence of shots. Interesting architecture and I liked the landmark sculpture very much.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your taking us on a rainy day stroll! I haven't been to Napa in years, fun memories! Great post and photos for the day! Hope you have a wonderful week!

I like visiting Napa - I hope you got to eat SOMEWHERE! Thanks for the tour - I haven't been there in a few years, and it looks different.
ReplyDeleteLovely tour of Napa, I like the neat looking chandelier. It would be nice to eat a the famous chef's restaurants. Do they serve lunch and dinnder? Thanks for sharing your world for the day. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteAll those tempting looking restaurants...!
ReplyDeleteNapa looks a pretty [upscale] town.
very intriguing bottle chandelier....:)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, but no wine tour!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteSo did you get to eat anything that day? :))
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the world without sun and void of people! Spooky and fascinating!
ReplyDeleteWow - Napa is certainly very picturesque. Love that last photo - it looks like a real person in silhouette.. almost!
ReplyDeleteHope you take us back there again when there is enough in your piggy bank without robbing Wells Fargo to go to the restaurant. I would love to see whether his cooking is as good as on TV.
ReplyDeleteLoved the post.
such a beautiful town. the bottle chandelier looks pretty cool and the man with a giant grape crusher looks extremely lifelike.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures. The wine bottle chandelier is unique.
ReplyDeleteNYC has so many restaurants owned by celebrity chefs and if I can splurge, Morimoto's branch in Chelsea is one I wouldn't miss.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of scouting the restaurants for future visits. But then I might just drool outside knowing that I am so close yet so far! hahaha! I adore that wine bottle chandelier... so quirky!
ReplyDeleteThe wine bottle chandelier is so cool! Lovely photos, as always, Maria.
