The City Palace of Jaipur
It is therefore fitting that the City Palace would be the last thing on our itinerary in Jaipur - like saving the best for last.
Jaipur still has a sitting king. However the title and the position is only ceremonial nowadays. The king gets to cut ribbons on openings of businesses and other social functions. This is where the king still lives.
Some of the buildings have been converted into museums. We visited two museums, one of which it was absolutely forbidden to take photos.
We spent enough time here. It's worth the price for the ticket.
Enjoy the pictorial tour:
The entrance arch.
The "Royal Family" lives in the building in the back where the flag of the family flies.

These ladies know best. One cannot continue exploring the grounds/buildings without stopping for a bit to catch one's breath and duck into shade in the heat of the Jaipur sun.
I was short of eyes the whole trip to India.
SKYWATCH is a weekly gathering of sky lovers and sky watchers. Please join us.
The public audience hall is my favourite place in this palace. And of course those doors too, especially the peacock. Your shots are fabulous!

These palace are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe peacocks were my favourite as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Peacock Gate is my favorite, but everything is just absolutely fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOf all the places in India I want to visit, Jaipur is right on top. Many other places in Rajasthan, in fact. I hope it comes true some day.
Wishing you a beautiful 2013 full of love and blessings. And more travel!
I find the entrance fees expensive though. Ever since the Indian government has stopped royal entitlements, Maharajahs have found charging entrance fees to their palaces as a nice cash cow.
ReplyDeleteSuch an incredible place. Beautiful photos. Our grandson and his wife visited and sent pictures of the Pink
ReplyDeleteCity, it just amazes me!
