Skywatching
It seems that my skywatching activities have been curtailed immensely by my busy schedule. I don't have as much photo walk dates with my husband as it used to be. The only time I can skywatch nowadays is when I'm driving from one point to another. And oftentimes, I don't have my camera with me.
I've been resistant to the use of phones for this purpose; however, there have been times when I simply must capture the sky. I suppose I found out that my phone had a few sky shots on it when I transferred the images to my computer over the weekend.
Here's a 10/12/12 image shot through the windshield. I reckon I was off to work when this was captured.
I have to get another shot just in case the first one was bad :)
On 1/27/13 through a clean glass door of a friend's house overlooking the beautiful bay area. The cities are Berkeley and El Cerrito as you can see beyond the golf course.
You can imagine the same scene only at nightime, and all those buildings/houses are lit against the dark night giving the impression of gems glistening.
Last Saturday, 02/02/13, as we were on the way to the grocery store, we noted the sky was gorgeous. Since we were inland at that time, my husband felt compelled to drive towards the water's edge and the closest we could find (well not the closest really) was Point Richmond and so we drove all the way there hoping that the sunset would still be around by the time we get there. And so it was.
The bridge you see here is the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge connecting the East Bay to Marin County (North Bay).
I'm pretty sure I'd be expected to use the phone more often now. I kinda like the images as they are coming out of the phone like this. There may be some hues/coloratin loss but overall I think I'm liking this phone camera thingy :)

ReplyDeleteTerrific captures and beautiful, peaceful skies -- particularly the last one! Awesome! Hope you have a lovely weekend!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic series, I love the last one.
ReplyDeleteA terrific series. I'd give the phone an A+
ReplyDeleteYes, that phone does a pretty good job. I think I'll stick to my camera though since all I have is a very old and dumb cell phone.
ReplyDeleteStunning sky!

Awesome photos--such a lovely overview of the bay. Beautiful place to take a shot. Mickie :)
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely worth the drive to capture that gorgeous sunset!
ReplyDeleteThese are all very beautiful. I see some of my best skies when I'm driving and can't take the shot. Frustrating.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't know, you start out saying that you don't have much time for skywatch anymore and then you present a great series of pics. Your phone takes nice clear photographs.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, especially the last photo. Looks like a stitched panorama shot. You can't write off phone cameras anymore... they really do a nice job!
ReplyDeleteImpressive mobile shots, especially through the glass, very crisp!
ReplyDeleteYou did an awesome job capturing various pictures with your phone. I think camera phones do a better than some point & shoots. Keep your phone camera pictures coming.
ReplyDeleteAwesome clouds and skies. Enjoying them all.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by, have a great weekend :)

Amazing cloud patterns. Love the colors in the last shot!
ReplyDeleteAs long as you have your cell phone, you have a camera. Very nice work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views of the sky. Love the contrasts in the shots.
ReplyDeleteStunning compositions, yes the first two shots show the glass, but the house glass shots look very normal as if only a slight filter is used. That last one, i wonder why the left pat is hazy while the rest of the frame is clear.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely shots! Thank goodness for mobile phone cameras!
ReplyDeletebeautiful series and nice photos
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of photos, I;d like to use the phone camera but not been able to achieve that level of quality. Will you be sharing your tricks because the photos do look great.
ReplyDeleteThose cloud shots at the beginning are fine. The phone is doing a great job. The last couple with the water are superb landscapes. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos. Happy sky watching.

ReplyDeleteI love all your pictures and congrats on learning to use your phone. I haven't learned that yet, but I carry my point and shoot digital with me all the time. (I carry my phone too, so if I could learn to use it, my bag would be lighter ;>)!).
ReplyDeleteI'm sure glad you made it in time for that gorgeous sunset!!!
Wonderful skies and shades, Maria!
ReplyDeleteThis is when my daughter would say something like "You should do this more often!" :) Beautiful skies, Maria, even with your phone.
