A Brief Glimpse of Playa Del Carmen

When traveling from Point A to Point B there are many places we pass by. Sometimes, it's an airport that connects us from both points, other times it's a romantic city like Paris. In 2009 Paris was the place in between my point A (San Francisco) and Point B (Barcelona). This trip the exotic locale in between my point A (Cozumel) - post coming soon - and point B (Tulum) was Playa del Carmen, an old fishing village that is now more a resort town and only a ghost of it's historic past.

Because of the time constraints, our time in Playa (as it is fondly called) was very limited to coming and going, although as part of the "going" we were able to sit down for a meal in one of the local restaurants. Unfortunately, we don't have any usable images.

However, here are the photos we took while coming to Playa del Carmen.

  1. Hi Maria, you already know that your photos always make me envious, not only of the trips but also the photos. That was a very lovely color for a cruiseship. And yours are so vivid and detailed considering that you're moving while taking the shots. Am drooling with envy!

  2. Wow, those resorts look huge! I think I prefer the Tulum beach. Aside from the ruins, it also looks quieter.

  5. Great shots. It looks so colorful.

You asked about leftover tobacco smells at the renovated warehouse. When the renovation began, before the hard wood floors were sanded and polished there was a lingering tobacco odor. However, by the time the renovation was completed and the offices went in, I didn't notice it any more. The building is one that the company I worked for renovated to use for offices so I followed the progress. The first building I worked in when I used to commute was across the street and used to be a factory for BC headache powder. They'd already been in the old BC building a few years before I started working for them. I've gone to meetings in all of the buildings they've renovated so it's interesting to follow the progress.
