Driving, Walking, Sightseeing in Mendocino

We didn't do much during our 3-day 2-night stay in Mendocino. We drove around town and neighboring towns, walked to see the sights, went on photo walks, smelled the fresh air.

Watching the scenery while driving up and down Highway 1.

I love this road as it undulates before one's eyes.

Many bed and breakfasts and inns and hotels line the length of Highway 1.

You cannot avoid the coastal views. They are breathtaking no matter where you stand.

See how beautiful?

There are also many campgrounds nearby. We were curious about this one.

Saw this beautiful scene at the campground, except that it was for campers and not tent camping, at least we didn't see any tents only campers.

I went closer to the water here at the Big River Beach, part of the Mendocino Headlands State Park.

There are many countless hiking spots in the area, but we chose the easy way to walk by visiting the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse station.

The path to the lighthouse was paved. From the parking lot it was about easy 1 mile walk I believe.

However, we came late in the pm and the lighthouse was closing. We ended up just admiring the lighthouse from a foggy distance.

OUR WORLD TUESDAY

  2. @ LUKE....LOL, it was indeed very intense. I was even affected even though I'm only a casual fan.

  3. I LOVE Hwy 1 in California, Maria! It doesn't get much better than that! No wonder there are so many B&Bs and hotels. Your foggy lighthouse is a delight, in spite of you getting there late in the day. I love it.

  11. Sometimes just enjoying the scenery an the breathing in the fresh air is reason enough to travel. The beautiful scenery is rather relaxing. Was in the bay area over the holiday break and was thinking of Mendocino as a possible side trip... we ended up in monterey and carmel instead. It was a trip too short. :)

  19. You don't need to do much on the coast! Just being is enough! And, as you say in the post after this one, totally organic and no side effects from this high! Thanks for sharing and for the memories (which are way too long ago now).
