One Pleasant January Day

The day we drove to Pacific Grove to visit the butterflies was one of the most pleasant winter day I've ever seen. It was picnic-by-the-water day for sure, which was what we did. We drove around first and wanted to return to the Red House Cafe (we were feeling nostalgic) but the little restaurant was full and by the number of people waiting to be seated we knew that we had to quickly come up with a plan B.

Deciding to drive less and walk more, we stayed on Lighthouse Avenue and scoured the street for what appeals to our palate at that moment. Lighthouse Avenue is lined on both sides with all kinds of restaurants and stores. We took our time reading the menus posted by the door of each restaurant and managed to check out all the restaurants on both sides before we decided.

However, we were enticed to stop at a nice coffee shop for a cuppa and some sweets while we take a breather. Afterwards we walked to the Mediterranean place to get some take outs.

Nice facade along Lighthouse Avenue. Notice the blue blue sky?

Across from the Red House Cafe this beautiful Victorian, which has some cosmetic changes on the facade since the last time I saw it.

Also across Red House Cafe is this bookstore/coffee shop with organic coffee and tea.

We found an empty bench by the water's side, the perfect spot to eat our lunch, people watch, soak up the sun, and enjoy the song of the sea.

Is that what I think it is?

Others went closer to the water, note the shorts on a winter's day!

In a matter of a few minutes, I was watching these people with an umbrella as a shade to the sun.

The next minute, fog rolling was rolling in. So quintessentially California coastal scene.

  2. What a wonderful place to visit! Love that beautiful Victorian house! I would love to have a coffee in that bookstore/coffee shop. It looks so agreeable to me.
The ocean and the waves are stunning. Finally, the tree is just amazing! Thank you, thank you for that vicarious trip. LOVE it!

PS: You ask to me if I have been to any of the world cup games or parties. I have been watching the games only on tv. Did you believe me that I never have been in a football stadium to see a game? LOL!
Have a nice week ahead. :)
