Genoa: Piazza de Ferrari

The main piazza is called Piazza de Ferrari and is located at the center of the city. Here we opted to descend from the tour bus and explore on foot. The fountain sits in the middle and is flanked on both sides by historic buildings, among them the Palazzo Ducale, banks, headquarters of Ligurian region, the stock exchange building. We spent a good amount of time here entering the Palazzo Ducale, which had a coffee shop/cafe at the ground floor and a museum on the upper floor, which we did not check. We joined the locals in sunworshipping around the fountain because the sun felt really wonderful that day - I remember that feeling vividly.

We were there when the city/schools were celebrating Science Week or something because school children are out on field trips; we saw them everywhere.

A farmer's market was going on in front of the Theatre Carlo Felice.

In my opinion, if you only stay here for your port day it would be enough. This piazza is beautiful and the buildings surrounding the fountain invites further inspection whether you love architecture or not. In addition, walk a few blocks from the piazza and you'll discover different neighborhoods. We discovered two different areas that made us happy to have chosen to pound the pavement. There is also a subway stop here and the public trolley passes through here as well.

  9. Growing up in the Philippines, we always avoided the sun but then when I was able to travel to cold places - I understand why they're worshiping it. :p
