Lisbon: Hop Off Hop On

Lisbon, day 2. We agreed yesterday that we'd go our separate ways today and only meet up for dinner (we were traveling with another couple). The reason why this is so was I wanted to sleep in. We've been waking up early for 14 straight days since Morocco and having had another late night the day before I thought the hubs and I would benefit in an extra hour of sleep.

Undecided until the very end, we opted to go for a Hop On Hop Off tour for the day. A bus tour should be sufficient for the day, we thought, since we've mostly covered everything on the first visit a few years ago. In addition, we were also thinking we'd try to stop at the church that we missed the first time around.

When we reached the church, Estrela Basilica, that we regretted not visiting on our last visit, we stopped. However, there was a mass going on and we were requested by the usher to come back after the mass. Across the road is a park Jardim da Estrela where we waited out the mass while watching the ducks on the pond and eating ice cream.

After the visit to the church, we caught the next yellow bus and rode it back all the way to Rossio Square.

  4. I've never been to Lisbon...so many wonderful things about which to comment, but I have to admit my favourite picture was of the duck swimming with its legs and feet so far back in the water that they're the first thing to catch the eye!

  8. So, your "relaxing" day ended up busy! I know how tiring travel can be. I usually feel worn out after a week of waking up early and going to sleep late at night. When I start to feel very tired, I try to go to bed really early. I find going on an organized tour less tiring than doing things on my own.
