Ireland: Day 3 (Blarney Castle)

Blarney Castle charges 17 euros for entrance to the castle and the gardens. We did a DIY tour since we didn't see any guided tour. The sprawling grounds consisted of many gardens and so beautiful and so green. There's a bulding creek that ran through the grounds.

The castle itself is currently undergoing some improvements. One side of the castle was covered in scaffolding. When we reached the top we saw there were only a handful of people there and no line to kiss the stone. As usual I chickened out and got the husband to kiss the stone instead. In my defense, people who know me and my short stature asked if I could safely kiss the stone and with the rain and slippery conditions I begged off from kissing it. Besides, I have no need for eloquence, yeah right!

Once the kissing was done, we explored the rest of the castle. Sometimes when you visit a historic place, the "spirit" of the place seem to overtake you. It did not happen here. I don't know why there is no connection between me and this place. You know what I'm saying right?

OUR WORLD TUESDAY

  1. It is very beautiful, but I do know what you mean about the way some places 'speak' to you and others do not. When I 'connect' with a place for no particular reason it always me wonder if there actually is something true about 'past lives'.
