Singapore Flyer

This is the Singapore Flyer, that country's answer to the London Eye, I suppose.

Reaching 42 stories high, the Flyer comprises a 150-metre diameter wheel, built over a three-story terminal building, giving it a total height of 165 metres. This exceeds The Star of Nanchang by 5 metres and the London Eye by 30 metres. Each of the 28 air-conditioned capsules are capable of holding 28 passengers each, and a complete rotation of the wheel takes approximately 30 minutes

It opened on March 1, 2008 and I took this photo while on a 15-hour layover in Singapore on the way to Dhaka last January.

This begins my SINGAPORE series.

  1. Oh wow! This is too high for me. I wouldn't be able to board one of these. No way. Oh well! I'll just keep my two feet on the ground. LOL

  2. oooh! Good thing you were able to see some sights while in Transit. Something new to look forward to in Singapore

  3. mari--i will have a hard time boarding one, fear of heights, you know.

sidney---some city will very soon make one bigger, the cycle never stops, you know "can you top this?"

ferdz--changi airport gives you free city tour for passengers with i believe at least 6 hours of layover. the tour i took also included a cruise along singapore river.

  4. Wow! This is wonderful. I am eagerly looking forward to the Singapore series!!

  5. That is a huge ferris wheel. I'm not sure if I can endure that kind of height.
