Sky Watch #46

IMG_0296, originally uploaded by M'roy.

Fog has rolled in over Alcatraz as people in sailboats continue to enjoy the water on this beautiful Memorial Day 2009 afternoon.

I was standing on the pier by Fort Mason with my back towards the beautiful San Francisco waterfront when I snapped this shot.

Skywatch time again. Visit the site for more sky/cloud photos from all over the globe.

  1. That is very cool! I have never seen Alcatraz before. The greyish sky seems to go well with the setting. Great capture!

  2. That's a gorgeous shot. I haven't ever been on Alcatraz but when my brother was competing one year (he's done it several times) in the escape from alcatraz triathlon I watched him swim from there to the place where they hopped on their bikes for the next part. I wasn't into photography back then though so I didn't take many pictures.

  31. Great shot. I've never seen Alcatraz. The blue-grey tones of the scene work well for it, and it looks like there is still enough brightness to highlight the white of the sails and far left building.
