Acropolis, finally!
The taxi let us out a block or so from the Acropolis. At first we thought he was joking when he parked his car in a residential area with no sign of the ruins. But with his limited English he was able to communicate that he could only let us out in this spot. We needed to walk to Acropolis. We took his word and walked to where he pointed and this is what we saw. We knew we were not lost.
The path climbed up but well paved as you can see and shaded by many many olive trees.
Olives that fell on the ground created oily surface. We picked an olive that fell and squeezed it and we had olive oil on our fingers. Sweet.
We sighted the walls of Odeon of Herodes Atticus, which is a theatre. More on this later.
After purchasing our tickets, we quickly made our way to the entrance. It was a lovely day. I surmised the temps were ranging in the upper 60s to low 70s with slight breeze. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. However, when we entered the historical site, there was hardly anyone there. A good omen I thought.
