The weather couldn't have been more pleasant on Sunday, the first day of September, when two churches banded together for a joint bilingual (English/Spanish) service at the park. This year marks the 3rd consecutive year for a bilingual service and picnic at the park on the Labor Day weekend.
This was a joint project for two Episcopal churches, one from Pinole and the other from Richmond. The service was held at Fernandez Park in Pinole.
It was a family affair, first service, then a blessing for teachers and students and backpacks for the new school year, followed by picnic and a few games.
The sun was shining brightly, the sky was blue with patches of beautiful white clouds.
All in all it was a good day for camaraderie. It was also a great day for skywatching.
