Mountain Air and Blue Skies In a Cabin with a Beach
I recently just got back from a 3-week vacation. While a long vacation is very nice, there is something very appealing with a weekend road trip, at least to me. Every year the husband and I pencil in at least a couple of road trips in our calendar and one of these usually coincides with the Memorial Day weekend (also our wedding anniversary).
For the past three years we have done Monterey twice and Mendocino once. This year we chose another location that has water element for our anniversary/Memorial Day weekend roadtrip. Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe is the perfect road trip destination, because not only is it alluring, the drive is impressive.
I always take a shot in this spot. I like how the road splits here.
This time we stopped and stretched our legs and took photos at Donner Lake.
From there, we continued to drive nonstop until we reached our destination. I continued to drive by shoot.
This road trip made me realized that I have only been to South Lake Tahoe and we have a booking in North Lake Tahoe. Unlike the southern part where the casinos are located, the northern part is dotted with charming small towns and resorts are plentiful.
We stayed in Tahoe Sands Resort. The main office is located lakeside. There are accommodations on that side as well. However, our cabin is across the street and if we want to go to the beach we would have to cross the street.
The cabin.
Very rustic with Murphy bed. The first time I had stayed in a place with Murphy bed and at first I was like: Where's the bed?
After dropping off our bags and whatnots, we crossed the street and checked out the beach. We were lucky the sun was out and the weather was pleasant.

Your traveling description makes me want to make the trip some time. Fine drive by shots and shots of the final cabin at the lake.

Lovely countryside! Wish I were there!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Tahoe in 10 years. What a shame, it's so beautiful up there. At least I can live vicariously through you're images.
ReplyDeleteI also don't know what a Murphy bed is, i am guessing so i search and my guess was right. I love seeing snowcaps on mountains, but i have seen them only twice, in Rome and in Turkey, i hope i get to see them quite closer this time.
