It's Winter Time

Elephant seals come here every year to mate . The walk from the visitors' center to the shore where the seals mate is not too far/long, but parts of it consist of sandy beach that makes it too difficult to walk, plus the wind slapping your face is icy. It is such a beautiful sight these huge mammals...their noise can be haunting too. Located on Hwy 1 near the central coast.

In September, the museum hosted a visiting exhibit featuring Monet's painting during his time in Normandy. It was well received and I took this photo while at the end of this line. The museum was crowded, but it was well worth the time to visit.

Good News/Bad News

Good news first...the biggest Giant of them all stays put. Thanks to Peter M, Larry B and the rest of the Giant ownership group for resigning the Main Man for next season. Only 22 more HRs to go. Yay! Bonds!
Bad news next....Jason Schmidt, seen here in pre-game warm-ups, have decided to trade in his orange and black in favor of the most hated (in these parts) Dodger blue duds. Jason was a great Giant and his leaving while hurtful will pave the way for young bloods (in the mold of Matt and Noah) to take their spot in the major league. Still a question in my mind is are we putting the two Barrys of the Bay (Bonds and Zito) together in one team. I certainly hope so.

Another good news is the signing of the best defensive first baseman I have seen, JT Snow, to a position in the front desk, which would have him in the booth for some games. Nice to have you back JT.

Spotted these dudes heading back to the car after what seemed like a good day of surfing. Taken at Half Moon Bay, where the Maverick is being held today, I believe. Will check local newscasts for highlights later tonite. One of my "do-able" things that I still need to check off my list is go see the Maverick contest in person. Taken from a moving car along Hwy 1.
