Driving to Napa
Last weekend, October 4-5, is the first weekend in a few months that hubs and I had nothing previously scheduled to do, attend, and/or see. So, we thought another good old drive to neighboring Napa valley is the order of the day. Besides a good whiff of fresh air, we were there to sneak a peek at the grape leaves hoping they have turned to marvelous reds [they were still green] and have a little taste of jambalaya [paired nicely with a glass of pinot grigio] as downtown Napa was having a street fair, New Orleans theme with crawfish, jambalaya, etc.
On Friday night, we had an unexpectedly early, yet most welcome precipitation. We had rain!!!!! Which lasted until midmorning Saturday. Here's some left over clouds we encountered on the drive to Napa. This one's on the stretch of road in American Canyon I believe.
I love those big clouds when I'm driving. They are so beautiful. Your shot below is so great too. Worth a thousand words indeed. That was a squirrel in my shot. It may be how I shot it that made it look different from yours although there are several different types of squirrels.
ReplyDeleteThe clouds still look like they're nimbus clouds and are ready to drop some heavy rain yet again. But it's a nice capture. About Napa Valley, I remember going there on my first visit in California 6 years ago to taste some wine with relatives. Funny I bought 8 bottles and dragged them all the way to the Philippines. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteyou are really into traveling too. it is quite an interesting place because ive never been to the US.
ReplyDeleteOh no! it looks like it's threatening to rain again! Nice one!
ReplyDeleteRain feels good if you haven´t seen it in a long time. Nice dark low clouds.
ReplyDeleteHa! We had rain, too, that same day here; and it was a bit chilly Saturday morning. The next day we are back to summer-like weather. So, no autumn leaves yet.
ReplyDeleteMaking me nostalgic. We went to Napa Valley in August last year and it was just fantastic! Loved it.

Lots of the "Simpsons" cloud in this one. :) I've always wanted to go to Napa, will you have more shots?
ReplyDeleteA fine highway shot of the beautiful clouds.
ReplyDeleteThis looks familiar, was this the highway off Golden Gate bridge?
ReplyDeleteshoshana---this is a few miles away from carquinez bridge, not gg.
ReplyDeletealex---more shots, but not the touristy ones, you know locals seldom shoot the touristy stuff.
ReplyDeleteToo beautiful those clouds!
ReplyDeleteI love this and the two following cloud photos. I LOVE clouds like this. I'm sorry the dark ones fit the way you've been feeling, but they are pretty to me. Yesterday I was driving and went through and area with similar clouds (though no nice, blue sky behind), but was DRIVING and just pointed my camera out the windows. I'm sure none turned out even a tiny bit as well as these. I'm sure not good enough to post. These are wonderful.
