Photo Hunt #23: Aftermath
I dont know if this is the aftermath of a controlled burning or a malicious fire, but I saw this on the third day of our road trip. This is inside Yosemite NP.
I will be posting random snaps from the road trip series, jumping from day 1 to day 3.
From the look of the ground, it would have happened long time ago. I'm glad those trees survived the fire. :)

Wow, that is such an interesting view. I agree, I'm glad the aftermath included the trees surviving.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at the sheer lunacy of people who start such fires deliberately to cause damage (as opposed to a managed burn). The trees survive about what about the wildlife?
ReplyDeleteA very dramatic looking photo! Poor trees, and creatures living in the forest :(
ReplyDeleteHi Maria
ReplyDeleteI am not sure whos blog I saw something similar but it was on SC.
Cool capture.
It will come to me LOL when I am 80...
Lurch---that was me too. I posted this on SC initially :D
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea for the theme. Fire certainly leaves its aftermath in a forest.
ReplyDeleteThat was a serious blaze. I hope it wasn't a malicious fire. Happy WW
ReplyDeleteA very artistic shot!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend.
That's and incredible photo.....so sad for the trees however....great for the theme...
ReplyDeleteOh oh, that doesn't look OK. Poor trees.
ReplyDeletei was once the target of arsonists too maybe like 5 years back. only the intervention of a passing motorist saved our lives. apparently it was for no other reason than a random target. the people who maliciously set off fires are crazy.
ReplyDeleteGreat post for this week!!!! Hope you can visit my corner too... Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat capture, I hope no animals were hurt ;(
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. Glad that the tree survive though.
ReplyDeleteSure glad those trees survived the fire.
ReplyDeletemy family and i were in yosemite about five years ago. it was where i saw my first snow =] it was a thrill for someone living in the tropics =]
ReplyDeletei do hope this is one of those controlled fires started so that worse fires are avoided... else, i hope the perpetrators of the arson get caught asap =0
ps- yes, it is i who is in the second photo in my PH entry hehe
Seems to be the trees are having a change of bark. Hope soon, they'll be all tree and filled with fresh leaves :)
ReplyDeleteThe fire must have had happened recently.
ReplyDeletePoor trees. I hope they can survive despite what happened. They are too precious.
ReplyDeleteI love Yosemite! We also see large sections of burnt trees along the way to Yosemite, so we think it must be a deliberate practice by park rangers.
ReplyDeleteyosemite? those are very old trees probably
ReplyDeleteWow... in any case, am glad the trees look to have survived okay!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating picture.
ReplyDeletemaybe it is a controlled burning of the underbrush
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I'm sorry to see this.

Stunning photo. Glad to see those huge trees survived.
ReplyDeleteReally like this photo - so crisp. Great choice for the "aftermath" theme this week.
ReplyDeleteOh, what could have been a very green photo turned grim and sad :(
ReplyDeleteits a good thing the trees survived
wow! one of the best photo i've seen here. im doing two thumbs up right now for this photo.
ReplyDeleteFine capture Maria. Trees seem having survived the fire!
ReplyDeleteControlled fires are usually done on open fields, not among trees. This was part of a fire that was snuffed just in time, perhaps, and these trees survived the conflagration.
ReplyDeleteThe poor trees! Would have been burned or just caught fire from lightning? Anyway, a photo that does send a sad story.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo for this weeks theme word! I suppose it was an act of nature maybe? My hunt is up please come and visit
ReplyDeleteWhile it's heartbreaking seeing trees burn, they do say it helps the forests in the long run. Wish it didn't work that way. Great choice for this theme.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Always depressing to see...safe travels!
ReplyDeletewhat a sad sight! but at least the trees survived. hope the wildlife did too. mine is posted here.
ReplyDeleteenjoy the weekend!
This is a great post for aftermath!
ReplyDeleteA great set of pictures again, love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics down memory lane since I last took a look. Road trips can be very interesting, especially with a camera.
ReplyDeletethese trees are survivors. =)
ReplyDeleteI love the way the trees are partially blackened, so that they will live to sprout again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
And yet they still stand brave and tall, as though nothing had scarred them!
ReplyDeletevery appropriate for the "aftermath" theme. i am a fan of dead-trees, dead-looking ones, or anything with branches-no-leaves-trees if you know what i mean. they just seem so melancholic to me or at least very moody. this would be brilliant in monochrome (just a thought).
ReplyDeleteCould you still smell the smoke? I'm looking forward to the rest of your photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comments. Have a great week!
