Sky Watch #28
Continuing with our exploration of Carson City by foot, I instantly noticed this beautiful building. It is the Paul Laxalt State Building that houses the Nevada Commission on Tourism.
Don't be fooled by the blue sky, there was rain not long after we took this.
It's SkyWatch time again and if you're a pro on this, you know that to see skyscapes from all over the world, you have to check this out, the skywatch page.
You're so dedicated... always my first sky watch visit, each week.
ReplyDeleteI love this building. I am always struck by the charming architecture of older structures. They just don't put that kind of effort into buildings anymore... just styrofoam. I see the nimbus sky creeping in.
Great looking place Maria. Like the clock in this shot.
ReplyDeleteIt does look as if it was getting darker to the left of the frame. At this time of year I would rather have a rain shower than the snow and cold we are having. Good sky watch Friday.
ReplyDeleteInteresting old building and a nice shot
ReplyDeleteI like buildings AND skies! ;-) Lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt does look historic. I like buildings with a purpose!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comments.

What a nice building...nice skies as well.
ReplyDeleteI see some stormy-looking clouds over in the left corner, but it looks like a perfect 'moment before"!
ReplyDeleteSince when could anyone predict the weather anyway?
ReplyDeleteI love the red against the blue though. nice contrast!
As much as I love nature shots, I also love photos of buildings against bold skies. This is very nice...I see blue skies on the right and possible rain clouds on the left...
ReplyDeleteI think you are not the only buried in snow - and all I can add, your blue sky looks perfect on my frozen (with real, like a mirror ice)day. Bye and greetings from Croatia.
ReplyDeleteThe architects must have had some churches in mind when the designed that one.
ReplyDeletePS The photo is evidence that the sky was blue when you took it - that is what is important.
This reminds me of buildings in Connecticut. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteInteresting building from another era. So much more class than some of the modern replacements.
ReplyDeleteGreat buildings you have over there, and lovely skies.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Very interesting architecture and lovely clouds. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteLove how the sky is blue on one side and gray on the other.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful building.
This sky is deceptive indeed! The building is very beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteOh yes it is a frozen canal. There are many of them in our village and other places in Holland.
ReplyDeleteLovely sky! I'd think rain over Carson City might be a good thing, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteRain or not blue skies and green grass is better than freezing ice on my site! Brrr...how nice to warm up here!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful building against the lovely blue sky. The sky is indeed deceptive if it rained soon afterwards.
ReplyDeleteHappy SWF.
Have a great weekend.
Mighty fine building.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful shot of the building and sky. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful brick building and it does look like a beautiful day to go with. Looks can be deceiving.

ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
ReplyDeleteNice blue sky, rain coming or not and a very neat building.
ReplyDeleteThe brick red works well against the sky.
ReplyDelete(I like what you have to say at the top of your blog. As a photographer by profession I appreciate not everyone is and we should just enjoy the images not analyse or judge)
I really like the color contrast. That's a cool old building and what we call a bluebird sky.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful building and great shot of it. It's too bad they don't build buildings like that anymore. At least there are still some around for us to enjoy, though. Enjoy the day and thanks for visiting my SWF image.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful sky you have there & great photo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my page!
Photocache, there is no such thing as amateur when it comes to photos. We all have our own artist's eye, and to say,you do have very keen artists' eye...thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo many newer buildings are uniform blocks of glass and concrete. This building has lots of character. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI can see the rainclouds approaching. Nice architecture and excellent photo.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful blue sky, and a great building! It does look as though the rain was on the way, though... at least it was not the snow and COLD that we are getting right now. :) Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful building, great skywatch shot.

I like this style of building!
ReplyDeleteoh yeah..I noticed the black clouds on the left, so that must be the rain afterwards :)

ReplyDeleteThe grey clouds on the left must have brought the rain, I guess ...
Beautiful building and great sky shot.
ReplyDeletevery nice contrast of colours between the building and the sky!
ReplyDeleteI love the character of old buildings and this is a good one. I'm surprised that sky turned into a rainy one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful painting! I mean photo :D One of my closest friend used to live there, I never thought though Carson would be so peaceful and quite looking (maingay kasi ung friend ko lol). Pretty building, love its color!

ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, building indeed. And you captured it nicely! Rich colors!
ReplyDeleteSounds like here in Florida - blue sky one minute, rain the next - sometimes both at the same time. :)
ReplyDeleteNice brick colour against the blue. Mmm.
