Skywatch #34
On February 17, 2009 while vacationing in Vegas, we took a day trip to Grand Canyon NP, which is a four-hour drive. We left Vegas at 6 am. And along the way the Arizona sky is like I remembered it to be---glorious and filled with puffy white clouds. We just learned upon arriving at Grand Canyon that the rain we experienced in Vegas the previous day came down as snow in this part of Arizona, and so the ground was covered with fresh powder ---such a wonderful sight. But this is skywatch and I'm just showing you, well, sky and clouds.
Here's one of those many, many photos I took on the front seat of a car. It's a four-hour drive and you can imagine how many of these I took :D.
Here is where you can find more sky watch posts, SKYWATCH.
Love starburst sun shots! Awesome capture! I hope you weren't driving... lol

I understand what you mean. Sometimes, on a drive, the clouds are so dramatic that the landscape looks so great and interesting and exciting that you can't stop taking pictures!
ReplyDeleteHehe, come over for some red wine next time :)))
If this is an example, I'll look forward to the Grand Canyon ones.
ReplyDeleteOh, so beautiful! You make me want to step into your sky!! :-D

Beautiful. A long road trip is always shorter when you have a camera.
ReplyDeleteOoh, very interesting shot. I'm guessing by where you snapped this from and how the photo looks around the sunstar that you captured this through the windshield, which gives it a great effect. The clouds look powerful and say a lot as well.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo. It has an unworldly feel to it, and that seems appropriate when you
ReplyDeletere driving to the Grand Canyon.
A super shot , reminding us once again that our sun is actually a star.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very glorious skywatch photo, I would have loved to capture those too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky - looks like it's on the move! Maybe it's been over my farm too. . . Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteSweet! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful moment with us (and we wouldn't mind seeing the snow, we're not that picky). Happy SWF!
ReplyDeleteWith that kind of sky captured, the 4 hours of drive made it so worthwhile already :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the realm called heaven, right? Beautiful image....
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sky! It's OK that you didn't show us the snow. I did it for you on my blog. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love these big fluffy clouds too, white or gray. This is a wonderful shot. Love the sun coming from behind the could.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great capture of the sky from the front seat of your car.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my site.
I like the way the windshield does that layer of it´s own before the cloud layer.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of light, tones and contrasts...so lovely!
ReplyDeleteQuite dramatic looking.
Nice photo for SWF. Like you, I prefer the front seat of a car, prefer to be driven than drive. :) Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how crisp and clean a desert sky can be after rain.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm scared to point my camera toward the sun (just got a new one) but I love these shots. I guess I need to do some research. :)
