Sky Watch #42
I love the stone buildings that house the gift shop/visitor center. I know it's more of a gift shop, but the storekeepers are so knowledgeable that it's like asking someone from the visitor center.
The sky has turned cloudy here. One of last few shots I took before heading back to Vegas.

How very beautiful and interesting. What a wonderful view the storekeeper has!!! Turmoiled sky. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI just love the composition and light in this! Glorious layers of color!
ReplyDeleteNo need to end the series... they're all glorious! :-D
Magnificent shot to say the least, wow.

Is that a giftshop? Looks like it is going to fall over the edge any minute!
ReplyDeleteGreat composition - and love the stonehouse! It looks perfect against the cloudy sky - and that awesome color on the mountains!
Whutta lovely house and scenery. Greatly captured also. Happy SWF!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great memories of that Grand Canyon.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo full of colour and nature at work, just beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us all in Sky Watch Friday.
ReplyDeleteEven a cloudy sky cannot diminish the vista. So open and just feels so unpolluted.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
No place touches the senses like the Grand Canyon! I was there this and last winter and always am spiritually
ReplyDeletetouched!
Great series of photos in this and previous posts of the Canyon!

ReplyDeleteFantastic looks, but some repair might come in handy.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of great shots in your blog! Nice sky on this one :)
ReplyDeleteI like this photo with this building and interesting sky! Thanks for showing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a memorable shot! And that building must have been quite an undertaking. Love the way the opposoite wall of the canyon looks hazy just from the sheer distance of it, I imagine. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteIs the building partly ruin or looks like this on purpose?
ReplyDeleteHa! I love the structure. So artistically and uniquely built. I'd would so love to be there. I always try to visit gift/souvenir shops when I'm in new places. Great view too. And yeah, you really captured the moment.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular photo.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend

Fantastic shot. I love the way the stone building looks. I'd like a house made out of stone and it would be heaven to have that view.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great shot! I love the way you composed this...the angry sky is great, the bldg is great...but that slice of grand canyon is still magnificent...
ReplyDeleteActually, I find this brick house quite charming. So uniquely built to compliment the sky. :)

ReplyDeleteAmazing! I love that stone house just by the cliff. I can imagine waking up on a stunning view like those.
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd be able to see those places earlier but I have to delay my US visit this year.
wow! so nice, the stone buildings are great!
ReplyDeleteThe storekeepers must have been there for a long long time already :)
ReplyDeleteI hope this stone house will be preserve, don't really see much of these anymore.

ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic Friday.
This brings back memories! I love this viewpoint!
ReplyDeletethe structure looks so fragile but it survive thru time. i believe.
ReplyDeleteFantastic, love the muted colours.
ReplyDeletewonderful composition!
ReplyDeleteThe light makes it beautiful. I love the combination of the old building and the darkening sky.
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago I saw the "Grand Canyon Skywalk" at National Geographic Channel. Did you visit that too?
Enjoy your weekend!
A wonderfully peculiar building. Either it has started to break down or it has never been finished. That's how it looks like. I'm sure it is a very deliberate effect to have built it like that as to make it look old.
ReplyDeleteI quite like the idea and your photo is excellent.
I like this photo! Amazing how close to the edge this gift shop looks though. EW!
ReplyDeletegorgeous sky, place, and shot.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking. I need to make a trip there.
ReplyDeletelove the structure of the gift house. and i can see the crand canyon at the background!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, magnificent, what more can I say, all of the above.
ReplyDeleteYou always post the most wonderful captures!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree that it's always great that the storekeepers are very knowledgeable . Makes the trip more memorable. :)
Stunning shot. that building seems to fit right into the landscape.
ReplyDeleteThe building almost looks unfinished, and is so much more interesting because of it.

Fantastic shot. I have flown over, but never been to the edge.
ReplyDeleteThat sky offers plenty of drama. Wonderful images.
ReplyDeleteA fantastic shot Maria. This house is like a nest hooked to the cliff!
ReplyDeleteThe shopkeepers get a lot of sky-views here! What a nice shot of what looks a little bit like the edge of the world.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely stone building. I wouldn't have thought that it's a gift shop. The view is amazing.
ReplyDeleteFascinating photo!
