Lucky we didn't find the place too crowded.
On many many images online and on magazines, I have seen the Sphinx in vivid color. This is how I saw it, bland and lifeless. I was a bit disappointed. It must be the lighting. This was dusk. I don't know how it got dark too quickly from the pyramids ride to here, is not even 5 minutes.
The sun was starting to go down and the light wasn't really complementary to the Sphinx I thought.

it is still spectacular. i am guessing, but the vivid colors we usually see with the pyramids were probably taken during the summer. you need to revisit.:p

ReplyDeleteI've just browsed a travel brochure and the Sphinx was so colorful with the pyramid in the background. It must've been taken at the break of dawn. At any rate, your shots are still amazing.

ReplyDeleteBelieve me riding a camel is NOT pleasant. You have its hump bumping against the small of your back coupled with the fear that you might fall or worse the camel will have tantrums and run off with you clinging desperately trying not to fall! hehe

Looks like the best time to go would be early morning, when the sun shines on the Sphinx. Your photos sure still make it look grand! More than what it looks like, it's the thought of its age, history and engineering feat that's truly awesome.

ReplyDelete@LUKE - it wasn't hot when we were there in November. It probably maxed up to mid 70s. So it was really pleasant and the breeze was lovely.

Unbelievable pictures, Maria. I once rode a camel at the Wild Animal Park outside San Diego (years ago when my kids were little). I laughed out loud uncontrollably the entire time. It's a movement I've never felt before or since. Too bad you didn't try it! :)

ReplyDeleteCarriage ride is more interesting to me than a camel ride, just because I have already tried it. But I would want to be photographed while riding a camel there with the pyramid as the background.
