My World....
Earlier today at noon it's 46F (8C), and with the sun out (little help with warming up)we decided to go in the backyard and hang the sheets we washed. Since I was already in the backyard, I thought I'd take my camera with me and take some shots of what's growing there. The backyard was overrun with weeds and while the spirit was telling me to start weeding, the body thought otherwise, too cold said it.
A thin sheet of ice covers the top of this bucket of standing water.
The birdbath is under the sun so ice did not form on water.
Cymbidium is not happy with the freezing temps.
I have flowers in the garden in January, isn't that wonderful?
Rose
Bougainvillea
Heather
Thankful that my 2 orange trees are just teeming with fruits.
The Meyer lemon is finally getting fruits.
I still have tomatoes....in January!!!
Buds are coming up.
My haul from the garden.
Thank you for sharing my world.
OUR WORLD TUESDAY.
Do you mean all those flowers are not affected by the frost, they didn't get burns like the cymbidium orchid! My friend in Ca posted photo of his tree with so much oranges like yours. I asked him what he does with all the fruits. He said he barter with other fruits from neighbors and the rest to compost. So what do you do with yours?
ReplyDeleteLOL about 46F being cold. But then, for CA it is, and I remember. I can commisserate. HA! Those flowers in January are a sight for sore eyes. Keep taking pictures of them while you can.
ReplyDeleteWe're actually having our first several days in a row of nighttime AND daytime temps below freezing. Our fingers are crossed that it will continue long enough to freeze the canals solid. Astrid is so ready to go skating again! :)
How delightful to have all of those delightful things in the middle of the winter!! I love it! I also love your photos, you've captured all the warmth! Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteBeautful pictures. Doesn't look like winter at all!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteOh, oranges right on the tree! I hope they survive the "cold snap"!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful! Very strange weather we are having here - we were in the 70s over the weekend....unheard of!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers and the oranges look delicious. I hope the cold weather does not hurt your crop and garden. Thanks for sharing, have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteWe woke up to the first snow of the winter here. I loved looking at your fruits and flowers from the summer. I hope they survive your cold snap.
ReplyDeleteflowers in jan sounds great to me. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the Heather
at 8C, i will stay in bed the whole day.:p but your garden is blooming in the cold weather---the purple bougainvillea is pretty! i don't think i have seen this shade here. lots of Vit C!
ReplyDeletei bought a huge planter on Sunday for my mom's lemon.
What a lovely garden - those roses are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your garden is colorful! Happy harvesting!
ReplyDeleteFruits and flowers in your backyard! You are blessed!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots from you backyard. It is very rich with fruits and flowers.
ReplyDeletebeautiful garden. i hope the flowers and fruits will keep your garden looking its best all year long.
ReplyDeleteIt's boiling in my part of the world and our bougainvilleas here bloom just like the way yours do in what you call a cold snap. Amazing. I'm glad you featured heather. It's my first time to see it up close. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful you are still able to capture these outdoor beauties.

I'm trying hard not to be jealous. Thanks for the color on this grey day in CO!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing your "cold and freezing" world. I am so jealous of bloom and ripening:) I miss it.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
All of this looks wonderful. And I must tell you that California oranges are really better (especially home grown like yours) than Florida ones.
ReplyDeleteI hope your bounty isn't badly affected by the cold -- our Oregon kids say that they're freezing (but of course they don't have so much to lose crop-wise.)
And I'm pretty sure it must be illegal to pull weeds when the water is freezing!! Go back inside ;>)
Beautiful shots. It must be great to have so much growing during winter. Many flowers can handle a little ice but once the temperatures drop past a certain point for any length of time they can't thrive. In the spring here, it's ok if the temperatures go below freezing at night for some early flowers but they don't like it if it doesn't warm up some during the day.
