Carquinez Bridge

The Carquinez Bridge is one of the 8 toll bridges in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is also the closest one to my house, a mere 5-10 minutes away. The Carquinez Bridge is actually comprised of two bridges, the older Eastbound where the toll is collected and the newer westbound also known as the Al Zampa Bridge, the only bridge in the U.S. named for a blue collar worker, a construction worker, an Iron Worker.

When they tore down the old westbound bridge, the new span included a walking path/trail to the delight of the residents near the bridge. Unfortunately, I have only walked this trail once before.

One late afternoon with the sole purpose of photographing the full moon over the bridge, I made another visit to my neighbor bridge. It was a chilly evening so our shooting session didn't last as long as I would have liked.

  2. Well, Lady, you sure did get some wonderful images of your neighboring bridge, even if it was too cold for more. I learn something new every day because I've never heard of this bridge before today!

  3. Those are great shots you captured. My only complaint about the new bridge is that its graceful lines are disturbed by the old bridge in the background! But that's progress!
