The Marvelous Malaga Cathedral

Like many churches in Europe, the Malaga Cathedral (aka Our Lady of Incarnation) is nothing short of incredible. There is a small fee to enter, but it's more than worth the price of admission. There were paintings on the wall depicting biblical scenes and the statues were aplenty. The paintings were large and gives off powerful imagery, and I wished there was a guide there to tell me about them. Also, there is a lot of gilding, carvings, and overall opulence. The architectural details are marvelous. I will be surprised if tours are not available, but since we were doing a DIY and kind of stumble upon the cathedral, we didn't get a chance to find out about tours. Honestly, I would have loved to have a guide to point out to what I was looking at.

It is an amazing cathedral, one of my favorites. It is large with very high ceilings, but despite the many tourists there at that time it felt peaceful, comforting and serene to me.

  1. Yes that is truly marvelous! The Pieta is so big, maybe only smaller than that in Vatican. I guess most cathedrals in Europe are like that. I saw an old Catholic Cathedral in Sweden already changed to Lutheran, and it still has the old sodiac clock that is very big.

  7. That is a fantastic cathedral. To answer your question, I didn't ski down the run right under the chair, but did ski a couple that were steeper than that.

  10. I love the many details you have captured in here. I am always interested in the details. Malaga is in the plans for this year. We were very close of buying tickets for Spain last Friday. My husband checked at work and his coworkers are already taken days off in May. I guess we will need to leave it for September.

  12. There is something about old churches and myself, I think we are made for each other. I can just stay inside an old church admiring its beauty for the whole day. Somehow, I find it comforting in there.
