Cancun Again? Why not?
For our wedding anniversary in May this year we chose to go to Cancun again. Why not, right? While we have been aiming to see new places each time we have a time off from work, the call of the Caribbean sun, sea, and sand seemed too tempting to shrug off. Besides, it had been three years since the last time our toes were covered with the pinkish sand of Cancun.
We arrived mid afternoon. It was hot in May as expected and quite humid too. The one bedroom suite that we booked was nicer than I expected. It had plenty of room for just the two of us. It had a balcony that connected both the living room and dining room to the separated bedroom. I truly enjoyed the accommodation. We were there on an all-inclusive plan so the full kitchen was not utilized the entire 6 days we were there.
The bedroom was separated from the living room and dining room. The French doors to the balcony had shutters for privacy.
Open the shutters and the views of the water come into view.
Balcony was sizeable.
Views from the balcony. The palapa structure in the middle is the restaurant. They have a good variety of local dishes mixed with international cuisines. Good selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.
One of the buildings have a turf on top, a good spot to listen to the waves at night. Too hot during the day.
We arrived just half an hour before the dinner service was due to open, but we were hungry and the guys accommodated us. When our bellies were full, we decided to check out the beach. It was dusk, but quite hazy, no twilight colors to speak of.
I did not realize until this trip that May is an off season per Cancun tourism standards and I've gone there twice during this time. That's probably why the beaches are not crowded and the shopping was easy too.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful placce to go and relax and I can see you did just that
ReplyDeleteWe went a few times to the Caribbean during what they called the shoulder season ...march through early June.... Weather not too hot yet, but past the winter high season when most people go there to get away from winter... We loved it because fewer people, just as you found plus lower prices. What a beautiful place for an Anniversary getaway! I loved all inclusive places ... So relaxing.
ReplyDeleteThat looks perfect - I'm ready to go!
