R&R in Cancun

The anniversary trip in Cancun in May was planned as an R&R trip and it was indeed that. Except for a day in Xcaret, we basically had a most relaxing time on the beach, by the pool, or taking short trips to "town" for shopping or browsing.

Tough to leave this scene, so I stayed for the most part.

Since we had an all-inclusive package, we did not have to worry about our meals. I am now embarrased to see this photo of how much I eat at breakfast.

Us everyday.

On our anniversary, we tried the fine dining, sit down restaurant in the resort. And after the meal, we wished we ate here more often during our stay, because not only was the food good, the wait staff were very knowledgeable about the food and the wine too. Pleasant experience for anniversary dinner.

I went with panna cotta. Typically I like this dessert, but I was put off by the color.

One day we went out and took the bus to a random shopping center, where we window shopped and had coffee. Afterwards, we realized we were near the place that Yelp had recommended highly for their shark pescadillas. El Fish Fritanga is a casual dining near the dock. We went at a weird hour, between lunch and dinner and we were the only ones there, but by the time we were leaving, the place was starting to get full.

Nurse shark meat, is this a fried taco or an empanada, who knows, but it's good.

The octopus tostada however is to-die-for.

The complimentary salsa and the drinks are incredible too.

This was our view while we supped on that hot day in May.

We made a trip to Hotel Zone too.

And did a bit of a shopping here. The prices are more affordable than I remembered.

We then visited one of the resorts there. I think each time we go to Cancun, I had to visit it. I just love this vibe and hopefully the next time I go back to Cancun, this is where I will be staying.

  1. I'm not sure I'm ready for octopus in that form or presentation, Maria, (LOL), but I can safely say that one of the things Astrid most loves about vacation is when breakfast is included in our lodging price. If you're going to eat more than normal, THAT'S the meal to do it on, of course!!! :)
