Weekend in Alpine Meadows

The planning went too fast. The husband nonchalantly mentioned one time that we were spending a weekend in the mountains and the next thing I knew our friends were coming too. This is going to be a fun weekend I thought. And it was!

There were ten of us including 3 children, ages 8 to 15 that went. We stayed indoors most of the time because it was raining most of the time. What a relaxing weekend it was, snacking all day long, chatting, reading, and watching so much sports.

There was a break in the rain on Saturday right after we had breakfast. We all took advantage of this dry spell. They took a short walk around the neighborhood and stumbled upon a little watering hole that got all of us excited about coming back in the summertime. The husband and I drove out towards Plumas County, the site of our previous leaf peeping trips. We spent the morning photographing fall colors and we had been very productive in that aspect.

I love the site of the cabin and its proximity to other points of interests. We are already planning a return trip, hopefully we can get back here in different seasons.

On Saturday, our only full day, our friends opted to take a short walk up to the watering hole. We decided to take a drive to Plumas County, the site of our previous leaf peeping drives. The weather forecast called for rain throughout the day and so we drove out when there was a break in the rain.

Every leaf peeping experience is different. One year we drove out where the maples are aplenty and we came just in time so we had the beautiful reds. We were coming from a different route this time so we didn't get to see the maples. The yellows are the predominant colors here, a scattering of reds, but not much.

Before the rain came down really hard and unceasing, we got enough photos to satisfy our craving.

  13. Great looking colours - our native trees dont change colour in the autumn and their leaves dont fall either!
