Souvenir Shopping

Part of the joys (or woes, ask the husband) of traveling is shopping for souvenirs. In the early days, t-shirts were the items we would seek out first. Then we realize that it would be easier to transport refrigerator magnets and so we moved from collecting/buying t-shirts to magnets. While we stopped buying t-shirts for us, we continued to buy them for family and friends. More than the act of buying itself, browsing to me is even more enjoyable. Looking at colorful knick-knacks give one something to smile about. I thought about writing a post about this today, because of a recent trip I took where my travel mates were onto souvenir shopping so much that we had to carve out time off our sightseeing allotment for shopping.

I went back into my travel photos and came up with these photos:

Personally, I don't shop as much as I used to anymore. I set a very strict budget on myself with souvenirs and so far I have not gone over my budget.

How about you all, what things in your travels that you must bring home? Or do you collect some souvenirs too?

  1. Hello, I always come home with some kind of trip memory or souvenir. The coffee would be great too. Looks like there is so much to choose from there. Enjoy your day, have a great new week!

  2. Just pictures for us these days! So far, nobody has charged me anything for taking pictures, even if we don’t buy a thing. The Mexican shops especially are so colorful and fun..

  4. We stopped buying souvenirs for family years ago. Same thing, just photos for us.
Having downsized I realized how much money is wasted on junk.

  5. What a wonderful photo collection of souvenirs! I try not to buy too many these days as I have enough :stuff" but I do like to browse and if I see something that is useful and unique I am always tempted to buy it.

  6. Lots of interesting stuff there. I almost never buy souvenirs from my travels, they always ended up in a draw somewhere.
