Maui Day 3: Road to Hana, part 2
Aunty Sandy's is a popular stop in the route, famous for banana bread. I opted for a shaved ice to cool me down.
We stopped on the side of the road to look at something that we thought was interesting on that side of the road. Nothing was interesting on that side, however across the road there is a hole in the bottom of the tree.
Somebody wrote STAY OUT in chalk in front of it. Naturally, we got curious. All of a sudden a few feet away a couple emerged from out of nowhere. They encouraged us to go inside; there was a lava tube underneath. No second invite needed.
A tight squeeze to get in. Only a small/short lava tube.
You come out of the other side with a wider opening. But you need to climb down to get to the street level. A fun and unexpected bonus to this sightseeing trip.
