Egypt: Nile River Cruise

A 3-day Nile River cruise was included in the 9-day Egypt trip. It was a fast-paced, always-on-the go kind of cruise. During the day time we were out and about visiting one temple after another only coming home to roost at night. We cruised from Aswan to Luxor. This stretch of the Nile is popular because it is dotted with temples and scenes of natural beauty and rural life.

NILE TIDBIT:

* World’s longest river, the Nile cuts through 11 countries and an incredible 6,650 km of Africa as it winds its way north towards the Mediterranean Sea.
* It has two main sources: Lake Victoria in Uganda, out of which flows the White Nile; and Lake Tana in the Ethiopian highlands, from which the Blue Nile emerges.
* The two rivers meet at Khartoum in Sudan. Some 320 km further north, they are joined by a single tributary, the Atbara. From here, the river flows northwards to its end without any other tributary and almost no rain adding to its waters.

  6. Wonderful shots. Looks like a great trip. To answer your question, I don't live in the woods but I've let my backyard go totally wild and I've had fox families that I'm pretty sure built a den in my yard. I live near a large park system with trails and woods that support a bald eagle family, deer and I'm sure foxes.

  7. I have heard about the Nile since infancy, Maria, because of my preacher dad's home, so I can just imagine seeing this with my own eyes and staring in wonder (though, to be honest, I never expect to do so). Thank you for showing what you saw because it's something we just don't see on social media, if you know what I mean!

  9. I have only seen the nile from the airplane as I was traveling to South Africa. I would love to see it up close.

  10. Looks like a nice trip. Would you consider doing it again if you had another chance or do you think it would be better to just go straight from Luxor to Aswan? Looks lovely, but I'm just not sure I'm a cruise type of person and I'd love to hear what you think.

    With Love,
    Mandy
