A Weekend in Alpine Meadows, 2019 Edition

In the fall, one of the things I look forward to is our visit to the mountains, in Alpine Meadows for a weekend in the cabin with friends. We had a good time this year, as was in the past. Unlike in previous two visits (here and here)I did not bring a proper camera, but relied completely on my ever reliable cell phone.

We left the Bay Area nearly 9 pm on Friday, Oct 25, 2019 and arrived near midnight. Our friends and their kids have already arrived earlier in the night and were asleep by the time we came. Another couple came in much later; I was asleep when they came.

The weather was incredible on Saturday. It was 62F and as usual we went for a short hike to the pond with the whole gang, including Brasy the dog.

Later in the day, some of us took a short drive to Tahoe City for a little sightseeing along the banks of Lake Tahoe.

On Sunday, the temp dipped into 32F and we were glad we were leaving for the comforts of 70F Fall weather back home.

  2. That is a stunning area! Beautiful pictures. I hope you guys are not affected by the fires, Maria. So scary. We just returned from a road trip where we were in Sonoma County, got home a week ago, just before the fires started.

  7. Such beautiful autumn color and weather there! It must be fun spending time in a lakeside cabin with friends. I've also been relying more and more on my cell phone camera these days--so much easier than bringing along the big heavy DSLR. Our fall left early in Colorado --we've had three snowstorms so far!
