Egypt: Day 7 (Cairo Museum)

After a somewhat-dismal visit to the bazaar (because I thought I could recapture the magic of the first visit here), we returned to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, aka Cairo Museum and/or Egyptian Museum. The decision to switch itinerary with the bazaar paid off somewhat, because the crowd we encountered when we arrived was somewhat manageable.

This would be my second visit to the museum - the first in 2009 - and each visit a tour guide was employed, but still there is so much information to absorb, too many things to see, so confusing to the mind. The museum holds about 120,000 items. Room after room filled with artifacts that blow one's mind. Even to a casual visitor like me, it would require a week to fully cover the entire area.

It's impossible for someone to show the expanse of the museum, but I'll try to show you a variety of what's exhibited inside. Be warned I'm showing more photos than I normally do.

Manageable crowd entering the museum.

We learned that Egyptian teenagers "collect" photos with blonde, blue-eyed visitors. They swarm those that fit that description from our group.
