A Day in Arrecife (Lanzarote) part 2

A short while later we arrived in the waterfront area - the touristy part of town with all the shopping and the beach. Finally, we could do a little sightseeing here. As we were stepping down the bus, the conductor mentioned that our HOHO bus ticket gets us free tapa and a drink in one of the restaurants here and a free gift with discounts at one of the souvenir shops nearby. She even went as far as walk us to the restaurant, because if it’s just us we would not be able to find it. So we had a lovely drink and a little bite while we planned the rest of the afternoon here.

When we finished our drink, we strolled towards the direction of the church, San Gines church. We went inside and said a little prayer of thanksgiving and also took a few photos. We followed the direction to the waterfront to check out this part of town.











The HOHO bus stopped right in front of the impressive Castillo de San Gabriel. The Castillo de San Gabriel is located on a small island called Islet of the English. You can reach it by way of the two causeways - one for pedestrians only and the other for traffic.

The castle is pretty scenic and has been converted into a museum. It was here that we saw a mummy as part of the exhibit. Climb up the stairs and get a spectacular view of Arrecife on one side and the waters on the other. Likewise you will see the church bell from the 1500s. This is where you will flex your photography muscle. Every corner and every direction there’s something pretty to photograph.
