Another Trip Around The Sun
We first drove to San Francisco in Clement Street, which is our favorite alternative to China Town. Let me correct that, it is our go-to for eating and shopping produce. We went there for some noodles (for long life) and dim sum (for snacking.) It was a lovely sunny day 63F, just beautiful. And as we were driving to nowhere in particular, we took a dead end and found the Intagram-worthy spot that I've been meaning to visit. Talk about serendipity. This was the Universe's gift to me today.
Lincoln Park Steps looks really pretty even though in this part of the city it's always foggy and overcast. A nice info here.
I found a man walking up and down the steps for exercise.
Nearby, we stopped to check out the Legion of Honor museum and found it closed. Finally we got to photographed it without people.
This area is always foggy and overcast and cold.
The next stop was at Land's End with the hope of taking a short stroll around the area.
Somehow I cannot pass by the Cliff House without stopping to enjoy the sight of Ocean Beach.
And before we could leave the city we made another stop at a place we haven't seen or visited before, the Fort Funston park. Here by the cliff is the perfect spot for hang gliding. A glider was waiting for the perfect timing but apparently the wind condition was not cooperating, so no sighting for us.
Can you spot the glider on the left?
We know that we needed to have some lunch at some point, although we were hoping we could stumble upon a spot that has outdoor seating. In Pacifica we stumbled upon one such spot, Nick's on Rockaway Beach had converted part of the parking lot for outdoor seating. It was sunny and perfect 67F. I've never seen Pacifica this sunny and pleasant before.
Golden refreshment for the Golden State.
Is it mandatory to have fish and chips when you eat by the water?
Nothing beats the beet salad, though.
After the meal was over we headed home, but decided not to turn around to go home via San Francisco. We thought we'd just enjoy a drive to Half Moon Bay and from there drive home via Hayward and Oakland, since we're not in a hurry to go home anyway.
And what a fabulous idea that was. We were pleasantly surprised to see a field of Agapanthus or Lily of the Nile along Montara Beach. We joined the long line of parked cars and went on foot to take photos.
In Half Moon Bay it was a quintessential beach scene.
I ended the day with a little desert courtesy of Costco.
I had a wonderful day and I hope that same time next year I get to enjoy the day somewhere that would require a plane to reach it.
those steps are fantastic!
