Clarion Alley Murals

The murals of Clarion Alley are a tourist destination in the city of San Francisco. Clarion Alley is located in the city's Mission District between Mission and Valencia Streets. Just like many major cities now, San Francisco has a thriving and vibrant mural scene.

According to their website: The Mission of Clarion Alley Mural Project (CAMP) is to support and produce socially-engaged and aesthetically innovative public art, locally and globally, as a grassroots community-directed organization based in San Francisco’s Mission District. CAMP is a community, a public space, and an organizing force that uses public art as a means for supporting social, economic, racial, and environmental justice messaging and storytelling.

This is my favorite mural because it is so realistic. You can almost feel the softness of the blanket.

  10. Some fantastic images here. Thank you! I've noticed a thriving murals scene in many places, but none impressed me quite as much as Belfast, in Northern Ireland. Funnily enough it had a history of murals stretching back half a century, sectarian ones, which were mostly painted for political and religious rather than artistic reasons, and were really pieces of folk art. But, this tradition has been extended and transformed in a modern way in the city centre which now has so many clever, beautifully painted images in every style, about all kinds of interesting topics, just as art's for art's sake. It has made Belfast a really exciting place to walk around.
