NV/AZ/UT Road Trip: Arches NP, part 2

We continued our drive through the aptly named Arches Scenic Drive and arrived at Skyline Arch. Very short hike from the road, but enough to stretch the legs and take photos. IMG_3036

This is one sweet little arch easily accesible through the main drag.

Then we drove some more hoping to see more wonderful scenes on the way to our destination, which was the Devil's Garden.

At Devil's Garden we took the 3-mile RT trail. Beyond beautiful sights. We saw the Tunnel Arch and also the Pine Tree Arch. This trail is very popular and doable to all fitness types. Also bathrooms are available.

Finally, we reached the lower and upper viewpoints for Delicate Arch. It's been late in the afternoon and we weren't sure about how the weather in Utah would be so we didn't risk a hike up. In hindsight though, we could have come back another day just to do the hike up there, because who knows it may not be standing the next time we get to visit it. And of course we had to use the zoom a lot.

It was 6 pm by the time we left the park. The drive to Green River, where we stayed for 2 nights, was smooth and fast. What I wrote on my journal at the end of today's entry was: Tomorrow, we'll see what happens. My schedule/itinerary is all screwed up. We're supposed to cover Canyonlands tomorrow, sigh!

Come back to this blog to find out what we finally decided to do with Day 5 of this road trip.

  2. Gorgeous photos! I have wanted to visit this park for years and thought I'd make it this year but all the closures on Interstate 70 due to mud slides ==a side effect from last year's wildfires in Glenwood Canyon--have deterred me. I'm not getting any younger...lol..and I fear I won't be able to do the hike up to see delicate arch...sigh.
