We Stand With Ukraine Rally In SF
Now that the world is getting back to normal (although last night I heard a news that a city in China is going on a full lockdown due to Covid) , so is my post going to be more current hopefully. What else is more current than the world's condemnation against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is an abhorrent act, we all agree on that. While the Ukrainians are facing enormous suffering and uncertainty, the whole world does what it can to show support. One such way is the many rallies that are organized all over the world. One such city that is no stranger to rallies is San Francisco, and on February 27, 2022 a rally was held in front of the city hall. I showed up with the husband and took photos and commiserated with everyone in attendance and in spirit with those in Ukraine.
Here are some of the photos I took.
In case you are interested about the knobby trees in the photos, I Googled them, because I was curious. I've admired them for the longest time and wasn't curious enough until now to find out what they are. So according to Mr. Google they are English sycamore trees. They get cut back like that - to the knobby parts - so that they grow more full and rounded when the leaves come back. I'll try to remember to return in the summer to photograph them for seasonal comparison.
Let's hope the fact that the whole world stands behind Ukraine will get through to Putin, but I have my doubts. We sure are leaping from one crisis to another these days .
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
ReplyDeleteNice too see so much support for Ukraine and against the war. A real tragedy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the rally. What a horror, what a tragedy. We in upstate New York are standing with Ukraine, too. I was in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for part of this week and so many businesses had Ukranian flags in their windows or flying outside. Our local Ukranian Orthodox Church is raising money for the refugees from the community, as is a food store owned by a Ukranian family.
ReplyDeleteKudos for showing up at the rally and documenting it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos ~ you captured the energy and support for Ukraine ~ well ~ Xo
