Lavender Picking
Earlier this year I made sure that I wouldn't forget about lavender season and a return to the lavender field that we know and visited in the past. However, midway through June I saw something online about a 2-day You Pick Lavender Festival in Vacaville, which is so much closer to home than the regular field we go to in Santa Rosa. In all honesty, I was surprised about the presence of a lavender field/festival so close to home. And because of curiosity I picked this one to go to this year.
According to the article, the festival covered 2 different farms where the food and music are only present in one farm and not both. Likewise, the food and music are only present one day and not both days. Knowing this, we knew when and where to go.
What I found out is that it's a small farm and a small operation. I was told that this is just it's second year of existence and hopefully the festival will grow in the coming years. I'll keep my eye on it.
Oh lovely! Mmmm I can almost smell how wonderful that field must have been. Neat it was so close . We found one a few years ago up the McKenzie River from us (here in Oregon) but somehow I've missed it every year since. Must do better next time (note to self). Thanks for sharing!!!
