Staying Close To Home

As weekend warriors, we make sure we do this short drives to nearby places just to break the monotony. I have learned to appreciate this mini vacay of sorts more this time because of so many hassles involved in long-distance trips especially using air travel.

So for 4th of July weekend, we thought we'd go to the city for a little food tripping of sort. You see we have found a Russian bakery in the city that we regularly frequent for their breakfast pastries. Our next stop is to grab some sandwiches to go for friends at a deli located inside a local grocery store. And the last stop was to visit our friend who owns and manages a Vegan burger food truck in the city. I usually get vegan burger craving. Love the burger so much that my husband makes sure we stop by at least once a month.

His food truck is stationed in Golden Gate Park by the Conservatory of Flowers on the weekends only. After putting in our order, we thought we'd walk to the Conservatory of Flowers for a brief look-see. This was July 2nd and it was cold, cloudy and very breezy.

On the walk back to the food truck, we noticed some blooms on the side of the building. We thought they were roses and we got really excited so we walked there. They were not roses, but dahlias. And they were magnificent.

Needless to say, it was a fun day. We came home with full bellies.
