Just A Walk In The Park
The past couple of years have made us realize how little time we spent visiting the parks and other attractions nearby. We were focusing our attention on foreign soil, but the pandemic has changed all that. So to keep up with the promise we made to ourselves we decided to revisit one of the parks we used to frequent a lot. It's about a 15-minute drive and it is actually two parks side by side in the city of Richmond.
This is what the website has to say about Wildcat Canyon Regional Park: "Wildcat Canyon Regional Park encompasses 2,789 acres along the Wildcat Creek watershed and the surrounding hills and ridges. The park extends from the Tilden Nature Area above the Berkeley hills in the south to historic Alvarado Park at the north end in Richmond. It includes a significant portion of the paved Nimitz Way extending from Inspiration point in Tilden Regional Park. Easy access from the busy cities of the East Bay makes Wildcat Canyon a popular place for hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and those simply looking for a quiet place to spend an afternoon. Alvarado Park, with its historic stonework, provides picnic areas for large and small groups, a wonderful play area for children, and access to Wildcat Creek, all just steps from the busy streets of Richmond."
Wildcat Canyon/Alvarado Park remains one of my favorite spot to walk or just chill. This visit was from late September.
Definitely a sunny day, but temps were mild.
Many were walking, but did not see any picnicking.
Dry creek.
On the way back to the car, we found ourselves in a path that led straight to the dry creek and so we just followed that.
I just have to get my photo taken here.
This nature oasis is just a few minutes off the very busy Interstate 80.
I very much enjoyed this ramble. Thank you
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice photo of you too. Sadly the pandemic changed everything, some good some bad.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really nice place for a walk. And the dry creek looks so inviting. :)
