Alberta, Canada Road Trip: Day 4 (Lake Moraine)
Day 4 is a big day, and because we have a jampacked day, our day began early. We drove to Lake Louise Ski Lodge which took a little under an hour's drive. This was the location where we would take the shuttle to Lakes Louise and Moraine. We were there so early that we caught the first run of the shuttle. Having bought our ticket online, we just had to go to the shorter line of pre-purchase and just had to show our print-outs and off to the shuttle we go.
The shuttle's first stop turned out to be Lake Moraine. I was really under the impression that Lake Louise was the first stop, but from the lodge the shuttle goes to Lake Moraine and from there you catch the shuttle that goes to Lake Louise.
Since we are already here, we made the most of our stop here. Of course we were cautious and aware of our time limit here because we would like to catch all our stops for today.
I have not heard of Lake Moraine until this day, on this trip. And I'm glad I had a chance to see it with my very own eyes. The date of this visit was June 7, 2022, still the lake was frozen. I have Googled it and saw photos of it unfrozen and it's a glorious sight. A frozen Lake Moraine is an incredible sight as well.
We walked on the frozen lake and took photos. The mountains rise above the lake and their peaks were topped with icy white snow. The weather was pretty mild for an overcast morning. We took so many photos from the lake and then walked to the side/banks where portions of the lake started to melt creating mirror image on photos.
The drive was pretty picturesque. It's an awesome feeling.
The ski lodge.

That is the Rockpile in the background.
We climbed up Rockpile for a different look at the mountains and the frozen lake.
Oh what an experience. I cannot believe how awesome the natural beauty of this area is. It's the place I most definitely recommend to everyone who loves to travel to visit one of these days. It can be overwhelming while you're in the moment, but take a ton of photos so you can remember your trip years later when your memory fades. It's an experience I hope someday I get to repeat.
It is clearly absolutely stunningly beautiful, but too rugged and cold for me! Glad I could "see it" through your lens.

Beautiful mountain range. Quite a contrast to our hot summer day today.
ReplyDeleteSo much natural beauty. Beautifully photographed. Thanks for taking us along!
ReplyDeleteI visited Moraine Lake as a child with my parents. I might get out the photos and see how they compare to yours. Lake Louise is considerable smaller as far as ice.
ReplyDeleteMajestic Vistas. Whutta place.
ReplyDeleteSuch a breathtaking landscape! The photos are simply brilliant.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Those rocks!
ReplyDeleteThe mountains! The clouds! The frozen lake. Friends off for the 4th adventure. What's not to like? Brrr.....but worth every moment I betcha.
ReplyDeleteAmazing mountains.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outing. Spectacular, rugged scenery, and loved seeing the smiles in your group.
ReplyDeleteIt really is stunning. It was summer both times we've been in Alberta, but it was beautiful then as well. My parents spent their honeymoon at Lake Louise and talked about it a lot when I was a kid, but never took us there. Then years later when they were very old, Bill and I and our kids did the Alberta trip. When I called my mom to tell her where we were she had no memory of the place. Made me so sad!!
ReplyDeleteNice post thank you Marelis
