Alberta, Canada Road Trip: Day 4 (Lake Louise)
The second half of the morning of Day 4 was devoted to visiting the much-ballyhooed and drool-worthy Lake Louise, which we reached by taking the shuttle from Lake Moraine. The moment we reached the parking lot we could tell there would be a lot of people here with us, and no surprise to that since this glacier-fed lake with its turquoise water is considered a top attraction around these parts. It should be. It lived up to its top billings, if you ask me.
Let me show you.
On the itinerary for Lake Louise, we alloted about an hour to walk the trail by the lake. I believe there is no way to walk around the lake, but the trail goes about 1/4 of the way or something. It's an easy trail, flat and no change in elevation as I remember. However, it's almost impossible to complete the trail in my opinion, because you just have to keep stopping for photo ops, like we did. We went as far as our time in this place alloted, which merits a second visit so that I can see where the trail ends.
Across the lake stands the Fairmont Hotel.
On the way back, we all agreed to check out the hotel lobby. We were snoopy and also in desperate need of a washroom.
I took the interior photos surreptitiously as I didn't want to embarrass my friends by acting like a FOB. The hotel was very busy checking in a lot of people that day.
The shuttle took us back to the ski lodge so we could collect our cars. Then onto the next adventure of the day.
Just stunning...that lake, beautiful scenery! #WWOT

You excite great memories of our stay at the Fairmont when we took the Rocky Mountainair train tour. As was your experience, we never got to the end of the lakeside trail as we were so distracted by the ever-changing sights and reflections.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the turquoise coloured glacier water at the Hokitika Gorge probably made just the same way.
