Alberta, Canada Road Trip: Day 5 (Annette Lake, Edith Lake, Road Trip to Edmonton)
Maligne Lake was the last item on our itinerary for this day before returning to Jasper town to get our Covid test results. On the drive back to town, we had some wild animal sightings.
These sightings were on two different locations. Worth mentioning was on the spot where the bear was, the park rangers were quickly there shooing all of us onlookers to move along and leave the bear alone.
On the way, we spotted a sign for Lakes Annette and Edith. I think our friend Sharon who made the itinerary ahd these lakes in mind for a visit, they just didn't make it on paper. I'm glad we took this brief stop.
LAKE ANNETTE
We were in the mood for picture taking.
LAKE EDITH
Lake Edith has wide sandy beach as opposed to the pebbly beach of Lake Annette.
Back in town, we rushed to the pharmacy for the Covid results which were negative. Before we said goodbye to the gang, we went for a bite to eat to say our proper goodbyes, pizza was the choice of all.
Tough to say goodbye - both to these friends and these beautiful sceneries, but all good things have an end. And reluctantly, we had to go. The drive to Edmonton was picturesque and long. Good thing we had the pizza. By the time we got to Edmonton, we already survived a heavy downpour and had gotten lost looking for my friend's house.
Mona and I were from the same small town. We met in elementary school and became best friends. We went to different high schools, and ended up in the same University getting the same degree. After uni, we lost touch. After decades we had communicated again, through social media. I didn't need to stop in Edmonton, but I did so I can see her. She offered to make dinner for our last night in Canada and what a joy to see her again in person after all these years.
Despite her insistence that we stay with them for the night, we had already booked a hotel room. The next day, we flew out of Edmonton to Calgary and from Calgary back home to SFO. This is only a few days long but we definitely packed all the days with sightseeing activities. I wish I could redo this visit someday - perhaps in the Fall.
I don't like walking to the tarmac to get to the plane, and don't like taking small planes - they make me anxious. However, this little plane erased all my fears by flying smoothly and ahead of schedule.
You can definitely get your steps at airports. This one's in Calgary.
Bye, Calgary!
