Israel & Jordan 2023: Neve Tzedek (Tel Aviv)
Neve Tzedek was the first Jewish neighborhood outside of the ancient port city of Jaffa. Built in 1887, it is the city's first suburb. It was also where the artists lived. Neve Tzedek means Abode of Justice in English.
It is the very first site that was on the itinerary of our guided tour. We were dropped off by the main road and did a short walking tour of the neighborhood. It was very obvious that this was artists haven at one point.
There's a lot to see and photograph here.
Met a cute resident.
The walk to Neve Tzedek ended up in a square that our guide said was an orange orchard a long, long time ago. Because of these oranges that were exported all over Europe, the city (old port city of Jaffa) earned the nickname the Big Orange.
Afterwards, we walked back to the main road to catch the bus, then off to the next stop.
Now I want to go back to Israel to visit Tel Aviv! Your series has been fascinatng.
