Israel & Jordan 2023: Jerusalem, part 4
[Travel date: Jan 14-27, 2023]
To continue this documentation, we left Hurva Synagogue area on to the Western Wall, aka Wailing Wall, is the most religious site for Jewish people.
It's so hard to take in everything and at the same time to tell myself to remember all that I've been seeing and experiencing. Tough for someone whose memory is not as sharp as it used to be and with all the distractions around me, I barely can focus on the tour guide. I know I should listen but at the same time I was soaking in the whole experience of being there. After all, this is one of those sites that ranks high up there, whether for religious purposes or otherwise. I don't know why I got emotional when I went to touch the wall.
From there, we followed the Via Dolorosa to the Holy Sepulchre Church. We also stopped for a drink of freshly-squeezed pomegranate juice and a tast of Jerusalem bagel.
It was nearly impossible to photograph any site cleanly, because there were so many people around, as expected.
The courtyard of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was so packed with people, so the tour director surmised the church would be the same. He asked us to wait a bit to hopefully clear out the church before we all go in; but after about 15 minutes of waiting and watching people come in and out of the church the tour director decided we should go in there because there didn't seem to have a better time to see the church.
I didn't realize that I needed another installment for the Jerusalem post. Begging your indulgence for my penchant for taking too many photographs. I wanted to photograph everything I was seeing.
To be continued.................
I came back from Israel with a similar plethora of photos, and have enjoyed yours as they bring back fond memories.
