Thankful, Grateful
Thanksgiving 2024 version.
I beg your indulgence for this very personal post. 2024 is a year of challenges, in so many ways. At the same token, it is a year of gratitude. I choose, in this post, to focus on the gratitude part.
For the first time in 14 years, our house is bereft of cats. Last year, my cat Emma passed away suddenly due to stroke, according to the vet at the Emergency Clinic. Sadly there is no rehab for kitties that suffer stroke - at least that's what we were told - quality of life and all that, you know.
In August, our beloved Buster had to run to the Rainbow Bridge. It broke our hearts that putting it back is impossible. The pain was almost too unbearable. Wallowing in grief, we still manage to find in the joy in his presence in our lives for 14 years.
This comes to mind, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. And boy did Buster happened in our lives big time.
First day. He was 5 months old when he came to us from the county shelter.
One month.
Felt at home right away.
First Christmas.
Our house used to be full of joyful noises!
A knack for finding the best napping spot.
He will let you know when he's hungry especially when it's not meal time.
Sunpuddling was one of his favorite activities.
Last Christmas with family.
Thank you for indulging me sharing this with you. My husband and I are grateful that we've been loved by 2 cats. We are comforted by the fact that Buster had lived his life (except for the first 5 months of his life) loved, spoiled, and catered to.
On a different note, allow me to share a few sunset photos I've been able to capture this year.
Golden Gate Bridge during the golden hour. Straight from the phone, no editing.
In May, we were fortunate to be able to have this happen here in the SF Bay Area, prodding me to ask, "Has hell frozen over?"
I know that these 2 images arre not much, and they're not visible thru the naked eye, but still this is something to celebrate.
May all your cups continue to overlfow with blessings and your heart be filled with gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
