Costa Rica 2024: Sky Adventure Time
Prior to arriving in Costa Rica, we made online reservations for activities at Sky Adventure Park. This park is located just at the outskirts of the famous Arenal Volcano. They offer packages/combination activities, which include zipline, aerial tram and hanging bridges. Two of our companions wanted to do some ziplining. My husband wanted to do it as well and tried to convince me to join them. But I told him that like white water rafting, ziplining is a one and done activity for me. I had already done the zipline in Costa Rica years ago when I was a lot younger. The other two and I signed up for the aerial tram adventure and the hanging bridges hike.
However upon arrival there, we were informed at the ticket booth that the aerial tram ride was canceled due to electrical issues. I remember something similar happened when we did our ziplining many years ago. It was also raining and just as we concluded the last leg of the zipline, there was a lighting and that created electrical issues with the zipline and the tours after us were canceled for the day. Today was also raining, continuous drizzle throughout our stay here. Anyway, the refund for the canceled activity came to our bank accounts a couple of days later, very quick, isn't it?
They are getting ready for ziplining.

While the guys went ziplining, the ladies and I went to do the Hanging Bridges hike, aka Jungle Walk. The path sure was pretty muddy and slippery and because we were in no hurry we took our sweet time and carefully trudged along, taking many photos, chatting, trying not to get too soaked, and most of all enjoying this nature walk. While we were hoping to see some of the monkeys, it was not meant to be. We did spot some critters speedily darting from one bush to another. No clear sighting though. Although, later on we found out those were quatis. While the fauna was a bust, the flora was enjoyable. Everytime I get to walk under huge trees is a win in my books.
Because of the rains and pending dangers of erosion, the hike was closed off after the toilets. Instead of crossing six hanging bridges we only got to do two.
Off the toilets, there is a platform with a great view of Lake Arenal.
Once we completed this hike, we went back to the front/building that housed the ticket booth, restaurant and gift shop. The zipliners had just got back as well. My hiking companions wanted to take a breather, so I joined my husband and the other couple in taking the same hike. I got my steps that day and more!
We saw a quati (Brazilian/Portuguese, or Coati, English) just before exiting the park.
On the drive back to town, we stopped at roadside coconut stand. My first coconut had no meat inside and I was really sad, so I got another one. The vendor made sure that my next coconut, not only has water, but good meat too.
Another stop along the way was the first coffee shop we passed. This was past 3 pm and we haven't had lunch yet, but we all just wanted some cakes and coffee.
I love cheese cake and I love passion fruit, but somehow their version is just okay. Our friend's coconut cake was way too sweet for our taste.
Hoping to maximize the day and despite the rain, we drove to La Fortuna waterfalls. We arrived there after 4 pm, windy, rainy, and very cold, but we were ready to trek down to the waterfalls. However, we were told at the ticket booth that they were about to close it for the day - earlier than normal due to the heavy rain. So we decided to just come back early tomorrow on our way out of town.
Back at the hotel, we jumped into the thermal pools after getting soaked all day long. For dinner we drove back to town (the hotel serves dinner).
Don't know why they don't have many street eats around here.
After walking many blocks looking for a place to eat, we ended up at Soda Viquez again to have casado again.

Positively stunning! So glad you shared at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2025/06/this-i-miss.html. You've allowed me to join you on a wonderful trip!
