Morocco: Erg Chebbi, part 3
The Sahara camel (techinically dromedary, the one with only one hump) adventure was slated as a sunset ride. We didn't see a "real" sunset, but as you can see from the following images, no one minded it at all.
THE RIDE
AT THE DUNE
We arrived at the designated dune, camels stayed behind and we climbed the dune.
While there, we behaved like kids who were cooped up inside the vehicle for a long road trip and finally got released.
One went running.
Another did sand angels.
And then we jumped. A lot!
A group of the gals took a group jump.
This angle is from my camera.
This one's from another camera.
The boys got jealous and wanted to do a group jump as well.
The first few attempts were not successful. They look like they were doing their own version of YMCA by the Village People.
They were having so much fun, but still not a jump shot.
After many attempts, we got a shot where they were all off the sand.
We tried to take a group picture, but the entire group was scattered about, so we just took group shot with who was in the vicinity. And even that was an adventure. We couldn't get everyone to look in the same direction.
When it was time to go, the gals were given a "special ride" to get down the dune by the camel guide.
And speaking of the camel guide, he was such a perfect subject for photography.
OUR WORLD TUESDAY
What fabulous photos telling a story of a wonderful adventure.
ReplyDeleteI love so much about this post. There is something indescribably beautiful about the camels following the line of the dune, leaving only their (hoof?)prints. I laughed out loud at the jumping pictures. Why am I not surprised that it took multiple shots to get the guys coordinated? And the contrast of the blue outfit of the camel guide against the sand - gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGood shots
ReplyDeleteWow! What fun and what an experience!

ReplyDeleteWow! This place is so beautiful! I rode a camel around the Great Pyramid of Egypt but that wasn't the desert at all. I think I rode another one but I cannot remember where.
ReplyDeleteFantastic ride!
ReplyDeleteThis made me take a small trip down the memory line. We were living in Sharjah in those days. We had gone for a Sandune Safari on one of the week ends. My kids and me had made the sand angels!

ReplyDeleteOMG these photos are so spectacular, NG-like photos! I love most those with the single guide alone in the orange dessert, so beautiful. I am so envious of these experience. I had the small one trip at the Desert Safari in Dubai, but not as exciting for photography as this.
